More Information For Your Home Wormery

To start, there are many added bonuses to creating a wormery.
One of the bonuses you get is a bi product from the wormery as well as top grade compost or 'Black Gold' as its known.
This bi product is called ' Organic Worm Tea ' It is a liquid feed produced by the worms as they feed. There are a few guidelines to follow concerning this 'liquid gold'.

1) This liquid will collect in the bottom of your Wormery. You can click on the ,Worm City, which is the Amazon product on the right of the post. It is a top selling wormery and also produced in the UK from recycled materials. This wormery is good because it has a larger surface area and multiple trays, surface area is more efficient than depth.

2) The liquid can be drained of from a tap that comes with your wormery. Remember it takes a few months to get your wormery working well so the 'Liquid Gold' or 'Worm Tea' wont be that good to begin with.

3) You should drain this liquid of fairly often as it will stagnate and turn smelly if its left. A good working wormery will never smell bad, if it does there is a problem. It should smell a little earthy but not pungent.

4) As your wormery becomes more stable, as a good environment for your worms then the quality of the liquid will improve, so  much so that you can dilute it down with water, up to 10 to 1, as in 10 parts water after your 1st tray is almost complete worm compost, the best compost there is.

So as well as fantastic compost you will have some good liquid feed for indoor and outdoor use.

Set Up Your Home Wormery

You can buy a wormery. It includes the worms to get you started. Here is a very good example of a home wormery which will make a super asset to your home and garden.

You can dispose of all your organic home waste as the worms will eat it all. Also if you want to enrich your garden you can take the worms as they breed and introduce them to your lawn and garden.
Become a micro organic farmer at home. You need a very small amount of space and will have many benefits.
A Wormery will divert your cooked and uncooked food waste, along with things like shredded newspaper, cardboard , tea bags, egg cartons etc... Etc... away from landfill. In the UK, about a third of what we throw away is food waste which could otherwise be composted in a Wormery. In fact, we throw away nearly 7 million tonnes of food waste and peelings every year.
Not only that, a Wormery is also giving you something useful back. The highest quality compost you can get , which you can use to feed indoor / outdoor plants.
